Thrilled to be one of your three hundred left standing. I've reinvented myself, or rather reclaimed myself, as a writer here in Tucson. Never too late to reinvent, reclaim, rejoice!
I sweep out my attic from time to time; purge the contents of boxes in the garage of things I thought I needed/wanted, but didn't. Clutter still finds its way to table tops and desk corners and sometimes it's hard to keep up. Recently we moved from one state to another-- unpack that line however you want, it does have layers. We keep tossing stuff, a life time of things that have been carted around in a marriage lasting nearly 40 years now. And people. it's not so much that they got tossed, it' more a realization of where there is connection and where there is not. Nonetheless, it feels like the satisfaction of clean counter and desk tops. And edits -- well, edits are just a part of the day. I re-write my work constantly. I re-write my life, also constantly.
Beautiful piece, Tyler. Touched my heart on many levels and I thank you for your emotional honesty and the reminder to always be friends with one's delete key. Big hugs.
